Image
CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP There is something restorativeand satisfying about a homemade mushroom soup. I created this soup to not be too much of a splurge, adding 1 tbsp butter and 1/4 cup cream yet still it's incredibly creamy and not overly rich. This is an outstanding recipe that could be built on in many ways. Don't forget to side of my homemade  garlic herb dinner roll  to mop up all that pure essence of mushroom soup. This cream of mushroom soup is sure to become a family favorite.  Just a handful of ingrediants needed to make cream of mushroom soup: - Mushroom : swiss brown and white button or any combination of your favorite mushroom variety. The use of multiple mushroom types, adds a mix of texture and flavor. - Cream : cream adds richness. You can substitute it with regular full fat milk. Mini Chicken Pot Pies

Image
MINI CHICKEN POT PIES Mini Chicken Pot Pies are the homiest and most comforting food. Puff pastry shells are filled with a creamy chicken, vegetables and gravy mixture. I'm going shop-bought on the puff pastry and home made on the filling to keep things quick and simple.  HOW TO MAKE MINI CHICKEN POT PIES - Beasure to let the puff pastry thaw on the counter for 20 - 30 minutes. When thawed, the puff pastry should pliable enough to cut or unfold without cracking  but not so soft that it feels floppy in your hands. If it starts to crack, let it thaw at room temperature a few more minutes. If it feels too soft, chill it in the fridge for 30 minutes. - The filling of the pies start with a roux. Made from butter, flour and milk which helps to thicken the cooking liquid to make a sauce. Milk can be substitute with cream. - You can use left over chicken if you have it on hand. Cook the vegetables without the meat then stir the cooked chicken into the ...

Tofu Cutlet

Image
Tofu Cutlet We love our tofu! I always try reducing our meat intake and strive to eat more plant based foods. It's a great source of protein and is low in fat. Tofu is easy to cook with and is an extremely versatile ingredient. I love that it has a very natural flavor and is great when paired with other ingredients and flavours. Today, Im making tofu cutlets. I have made many kinds of cutlets before ... but with tofu I've made plenty of mistakes.  Frequently  ending in soggy and floppy cutlets. Tofu has alot of moisture. Because of this, I squeeze the tofu in a muslin cloth to wring the extra water out. After the tofu has been wrung dry,  season by adding spices and vegetables if you prefer. I sprinkle some salt onto my cutlets after frying . The salt adheres to the fried food and leaves a pleasant flavour.  Let's get started! I ngredients: - 6 extra firm tofu - 1 medium size potato ( boil and mash) - 1 green chili ( finally chopped) - 1 medium size onions ( f...

Home Made Pizza

Image
Home Made Pizza This is  the  best and easiest recipe ever! Made this pizza recipe topped with a delicious, creamy homemade white sauce, barbecue grilled chicken and green bell peppers. And as it goes without saying.. tons and TONS of cheese. For a few weeks now I've, been trying to perfect homemade pizza but to no avail. The crust was too dry or it wasn't the right texture. The secret to a good homemade pizza is a pizza pan. Usually a pizza stone is used but I've opted for the pan which works just as fine. I got mine at a local bakery store but you can get it online as well.  Another big factor to a good pizza is the crust. You can spice up your crust by adding garlic powder or dried herbs. However, since my homemade sauce has garlic in it. I've kept my crust plain.  The white sauce, while it seams daunting is actually very simple. It consists of basic pantry ingredients which can be put together in 5 minutes.   There also endless topping optio...
