Fish molee

Fish molee

Fish molee is a kerala style fish stew , mildly spiced and flavored with coconut milk.

Every  household has their own variation for this dish.

So here is my version for easy fish molee.

Ingredients:

: 4 slice Spanish mackeral ( cut into half)
: 1 big onion ( slice)
: 2 big tomatoes (chop)
: 2 inch ginger (pound)
: 2 cloves of garlic pound)
: 2 green chillies (slit to half)
: 1/2  cup thick coconut milk
: 1/2 cup thin coconut milk
: 1 tsp mustard seeds
: 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
: 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
: 5 sprigs  curry leaves
: 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
: Squeeze of lime juice
: Salt for taste

For marination

: 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
: Salt

Instruction :

1.Clean and cut fish into pieces. Marinate
with salt and tumeric powder. Refrigerate     fish for an hour.

2. In a pan, heat oil and lightly fry the fish
pieces with a medium heat. Keep aside

3. In another pan heat oil. Next add mustard
    seeds,fenugreek seeds and fennel seeds.

4.  Once mustard seeds start to crack add              onion,  green chilies and curry leaves.
Fry until onion turns slightly brown and
     aromatic.

5. Add chopped tomatoes and tumeric
powder. Cover the pan with a lid and cook      in low heat until tomatoes become mushy.

6. Add thick and thin coconut milk and                lightly fried fish into the tomato gravy,            you just need to cook for couple
of minutes until the fish absorbs the gravy.

7. Remove the pan from the fire and
    squeeze in lime juice

Serve and enjoy

Notes

* Fish like salmon, pomfret, red snapper or any firm flesh fish can be used.

* The amount of coconut milk you use is dependant on the amount of gravy you want.
